The number of Canadian travellers choosing Romania as a destination surged in the past year, while demand from American tourists saw a sharp decline, shaping travel trends across the region, including the Republic of Moldova, according to data from Trevolution Group.

In 2023, the number of Canadians flying to Romania increased by an impressive 76%. In contrast, demand from U.S. travellers dropped by 23%. However, despite the overall decline in interest from the United States, flights from Miami to Romania bucked the trend, recording an 11% increase. Meanwhile, Romania is gaining popularity among British, French, and German tourists, further reinforcing its appeal as a European travel hotspot. The average stay for economy-class travellers remained stable at 28 days, while business-class travellers extended their trips by 14%, now averaging 25 days.

Trevolution Group, a leading player in the travel industry, sold over 980,090 airline tickets and holiday packages last year through its well-known brands, including ASAP Tickets, Skylux Travel, Triplicity, Vagamo, Dreamport, and Oojo. The company reported gross bookings of $1.24 billion, marking a 5% increase compared to 2023.
