Trevolution Group to introduce NDC by early 2023

Trevolution Group partners with AirGateway, a world-leading NDC aggregator, which will provide access to aggregated NDC content of 25+ airlines, including several major airlines.

Trevolution Group, which operates International Travel Network (ITN), Asaptickets, Skyluxtravel, and other travel brands, announces the implementation of new distribution capabilities (NDC) in its airline ticket distribution. The company has signed a contract with the API provider AirGateway.

NDC is a travel industry standard used by airlines, aggregators, and travel sellers for distributing and selling flight content. It uses modern web technologies that allow consolidators to connect directly to the airline, which results in the ability for product differentiation, better personalization, transparency, and cost-cutting. While the traditionally used global distribution system (GDS) model only permits airlines to display prices and schedules, the NDC standard provides real-time information.

According to Peter Vazan, CEO of International Travel Network, part of Trevolution Group, NDC is the future of travel. “The benefits of using NDC content are clear – it allows for control, pricing, and inventory ability, and with NDC, we will be able to give real-time offers to passengers at a cheaper rate. This, however, requires significant infrastructure investment. We are ready to invest in the future.”

Trevolution Group partners with AirGateway, a world-leading NDC aggregator, which will provide access to aggregated NDC content of 25+ airlines, including several major airlines. “While doing so, by early 2023 we will be able to provide our clients with more customized offers. We estimate to facilitate over 180,000 bookings within the first year alone and aim to strategically grow our NDC portfolio,” Vazan added.

Jorge Díaz, CEO of AirGateway, commented: “We really think that due to the complex nature of the consolidation business, Trevolution Group will get full advantage of our platform’s technical capabilities as a next-gen NDC aggregator. Now that NDC is becoming a serious topic in the US market, this is a great way to start.”

Trevolution serves 100K US-PH passengers

The Trevolution Group, which operates International Travel Network (ITN), Asaptickets, Skyluxtravel, Aviajet, and other travel brands, sold 100,000 tickets on flights between the United States and the Philippines in the first ten months of 2022, ten percent more than during the same period in 2019 before the pandemic, the company announced.

Its ITN specializes in the visiting friends and relatives segment and sells over 70,000 air tickets per month, making it the fifth-largest consolidator in the US.

“This year we have improved our market share from the US to the Philippines as it grew by 5 percent compared to 2019,” according to Trevolution Group CEO Peter Vazan.

“Thanks to the significant Filipino community in North America, the Philippines has been our key market for many years now,” he noted. After the Philippines reopened its borders, “We see that the market has recovered from the pandemic, which is still ongoing in many parts of the world,” Vazan elaborated. Most passengers traveled to the Philippines from Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and Seattle, according to Trevolution Group research.

Notably, the Philippines tops the list of countries where Trevolution customers booked flights, along with India, Nigeria, Italy and the United Kingdom. The company’s gross bookings globally have increased 63 percent in the first 9 months of 2022, versus the same period in 2019. But compared to the same period in 2021, the group’s gross bookings have soared 250 percent.

The Trevolution Group is part of the Dyninno Group, which provides products and services in the travel, finance, entertainment, and technology sectors in 50 countries.

Founded in 2004 in San Francisco by Alex Weinstein, it currently employs 4,000 professionals globally. “In the post-pandemic world the abilily to achieve the highest level of customer support has become of utmost importance,” stressed Vazan.

“Our new Trevolution brand aims to combine the human touch with innovative technologies to deliver effective and empathetic customer service. We aim to shape and evolve the travel industry,” the CEO concluded.

Flight Booking Price Increase Halts in August 2022

San Francisco. Trevolution, part of Dyninno Group, ticket price data suggests that prices of bookings made in August have returned to 2019 levels. The previous time booking prices were on par with 2019 levels was in January.

Peter Vazan, CEO of Trevolution: “For most of 2022, we saw ticket prices for international flights in the US increase beyond pre-pandemic 2019 levels, mainly driven by pent-up demand and an increase in airline costs. These data signal at least a temporary stop in the booking price increase.”

The average price increase has been driven by several regions. For flights from the US to Europe or Africa, prices in August 2022 were still up by around 12-17% compared to August 2019, while Asia was still up 22%.

The company’s research shows that the number of US-Egypt tickets sold grew three times in Q1 2022 up to the same period in 2019.

The average price in the first three months of 2022 was $1.763 per sale.

While the effect of the pandemic on travel sentiment is starting to be over, the research indicates that travellers are regaining confidence and opting for long-term bookings. According to Dyninno’s data, in the last four months 8% of travellers booked tickets over 120 days in advance. Another 10% are booked over 90 days in advance, 25% chose their tickets over 60 days and 27% – over 30 days. The booking window of 0-30 days accounted for over 32% of advance purchases.

The data further showed that the top five preferred airlines among the customers in Q1 2022 include Egyptair, Turkish Airlines, British Airways, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.

Dyninno Travel also reveals that New York, Washington, Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco were the top departure cities for “friends and relatives” travel accounting for 60% of the travellers bound to Egypt from the US. Cairo, Alexandria, Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, and Luxor are the top five destinations.

“We provide high-quality services and air tickets for travellers to many countries, including  Arabic-speaking destinations. Our data show that 2022 will be a promising year for friends and relatives travelling on the US-Egypt route. We have been observing a recovery in air ticket sales since the end of 2021, but the beginning of 2022 overcame our forecasts. Our Egyptian office was opened before the pandemic in 2019, and it was a quite good year in terms of travelling. I’m happy to notice that this year we have already surpassed the pre-pandemic level of activity. It is an encouraging trend not just for Dyninno but also for the whole travel industry,” says Alex Weinstein, Chairman and Co-founder of Dyninno Group of Companies.

Dyninno Travel Gross Bookings up 77% in 2021

Dyninno Travel, which operates International Travel Network, Aviajet, TravelTech, Asaptickets, and other travel brands, has reported its 2021 operating results. The gross bookings of Dyninno Travel, calculated as the total dollar value of all travel services booked by its customers net of cancellations, generally inclusive of taxes and fees, increased by 77% compared with 2020, amounting to $480 million.

Key Highlights

  • Gross bookings increased by 77% (compared with 2020) and amounted to $480 million
  • Domestic flights’ share of unique tickets increased from 19% in 2020 to 31%
  • The number of unique tickets issued reached 420,000 (+78% vs. 2020).
  • The number of upsells (e.g., FareLock and Travel Care Service) increased by 97% in 2021 vs. 2020.
  • The share of short-term bookings (1-3 months) was 88% of all sold bookings in 2021.
  • The share of one-way tickets doubled in two years, from 12% in 2019 to 25% in 2021.
  • One in ten people chose business class in 2021.

The number of unique tickets issued in 2021 grew by almost 80% to reach around 420,000. This result came close to reaching pre-COVID levels: it was only 8% fewer than in 2019 (453,000). The company achieved such a performance thanks to the launch of new business lines. Due to the closing of borders and the imposition of travel restrictions, in 2020, Dyninno Travel switched focus to developing the domestic segment in the USA and Latin America. As a result, the share of these business lines expanded by 28 percentage points compared with 2019 in terms of unique tickets issued, reaching 31% of total issued tickets. At the same time, the share of domestic flights among new clients grew to 90%.

Turning to additional services upsells demonstrated recorded growth of +97% YoY (e.g., FareLock and Travel Care Service).

The pandemic has had a big impact on travellers’ behaviour: the downward trend in the number of round-trip tickets purchased has continued – their share declined from 76% in 2019 to 68% in 2021. At the same time, the share of one-way tickets has doubled – from 12% in 2019 to 25% in 2021.

Meanwhile, bookings with a short booking window are enjoying peak demand. In the last two years, the share of short-term bookings increased by 26 percentage points: 61% of passengers have begun to purchase tickets less than one month before their journey begins (vs. 35% in 2019 and 52% in 2020).

Every tenth traveller in 2021 selected business class, but the majority continue to choose economy. Before the pandemic, 13% of Dyninno Travel’s clients flew business class.

The leisure segment declined while the visiting friends and relatives segment went up. The Philippines have ceded leadership to the USA due to very restrictive entry requirements. The UK, Spain, and Germany have dropped out of the top ten, while Italy has slipped from third place in 2019 to ninth in 2021. Sales are growing significantly to India, while there has been decent growth to Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya. Pakistan has entered the top ten, at number six, while Mexico is number eight.

“Last year, our travel business has recovered twice as fast as the market. We are planning to launch a new product on the Latin American market as well as a platform solution Dreamport for independent travel agents. We are opening new offices. This year a new office will open in India (operations and software development) and Moldova (processing). We are also opening travel offices in Vietnam and Brazil. We are looking closely at Indonesia and Africa as client markets, and we will also develop Colombia. Even though the latter country is only in tenth place in terms of unique tickets issued, it is seventh by sold leads,” comments Alex Weinstein, Chairman, and Co-founder of Dyninno Group of Companies.
